Angel's Top 6 Favourite Hotels

I've been watching a lot of Lifetime and VH1 lately, and they are ALL about the lists. Well, I already have my annual list of the hottest guys, but this time I thought I would take a page out of Brandon Baker's hotel-nerd book and write a list about my favourite hotels that I have stayed at. Let's dig right in, shall we?

6.) PARIS LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas, Nevada)

Paris is GORGEOUS! The attention to detail in the theming of the resort is IMPECCABLE (which is somewhat of a rarity in Las Vegas, where many resorts are immaculately themed....with just one or two exceptions). The theming is consistent and flawless (not to mention gorgeous). The Eiffel Tower Restaurant is probably one of the most romantic places to have dinner on the strip. And walking through the hotel and casino is just like being in the movie "Moulin Rouge!" (which we all know I am partial to). I stayed at Paris this January with Phillip Ashton and Brandon's ex-boyfriend Fabrice while I attended the Adult Entertainment Expo, the Internext-Expo (where I began the talks that would lead me to my current position), and Rentboy.com's "Dirty Secret Party." While everyone else we knew was staying at the dumpy Sahara, we were living it up, Paris-style.

5.) WYNDHAM PALM SPRINGS (Palm Springs, California)

The Wyndham epitomizes what a resort in Palm Springs should be. Now, while it may not have the history of The Parker, it is immaculately kept and beautiful all year round. It's also notable because it is the host hotel to the annual "White Party Palm Springs" every April, (and trust, it is SO worth it to stay on property for that). But staying there any other time of the year reveals the beauty and serenity that is underneath the craziness. The pool is HUGE, and it is located just a couple of blocks from the main drag (Palm Canyon). It's the perfect location for a weekend getaway from Los Angeles.

4.) SHERATON FISHERMAN'S WHARF (San Francisco, California)

The first thing that I love about the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf is it's whimsical design, which appeals to me greatly. They have these giant fish (pictured above) outside of the hotel. While the lobby is somewhat subdued, the rest of the hotel is done in very bright primary colours. The windows to the rooms are HUGE too, and let in TONS of sunlight, making it an awesome room to just stay in and enjoy the light on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It is actually quite moderately priced compared to other Sheraton properties in the area. But wait, there's more! The absolute BEST part about the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf is that it is ALWAYS packed to the brim with the fucking HOTTEST European tourists!! Seriously! The eye candy makes the drive up to San Francisco more than worth it.

3.) WESTIN DIPLOMAT (Hollywood, Florida)

The Westin Diplomat plays host to the annual Summer Internext Expo and it is a BREATHTAKING hotel. The lobby has this large fountain (shaped like a fashion catwalk) lined with faux palm trees. They lead you directly outside to the dual-level pool area (which was made infamous in an episode of "Growing Up Gotti"). If that isn't good enough, keep walking and you are right on the beach. One of the models I work with now (Austin Lucas) was recently complaining about being bored and lonely and Zack Randall told him to just close his eyes and meditate and wait for enlightenment. At first I thought that was a bunch of crap, but then I realized that I do exactly that. I just prefer to be outdoors to do it. There's something about certain places that awaken my spiritual side, and one of my favourite things to do at the Westin Diplomat is to walk down to the beach in the middle of the night, lay on the sand, look up at the stars, and just reflect. It's wonderful.

2.) WALT DISNEY WORLD DOLPHIN (Lake Buena Vista, Florida)

Another Nautical-themed hotel by Sheraton with a whimsical design, the Dolphin is BY FAR my favourite place to stay at Walt Disney World. It's an Epcot hotel, and there is a water taxi that takes you to Epcot center (the other parks have a complimentary shuttle bus that picks you up). The first thing that strikes you when you walk into the Dolphin is the fragrance. The place smells like a South Pacific ocean breeze. The rooms are magnificent, the staff lives up to the Disney standard of friendliness and knowledgability, and when this hotel is lit up at night, it's just breathtaking. It's been a while since I have stayed there, but next time I make my way out to Orlando, I am DEFINITELY reserving a room at the Dolphin. (Oh, and some side trivia, it's where Madonna stayed when the movie "Dick Tracy" had it's premiere at the Disney-MGM Studios.)

1.) RIO ALL-SUITE RESORT (Las Vegas, Nevada)

For so many reasons, the Rio is my home when I am in Las Vegas. First of all, the masquerade village and "Show In The Sky" (although technically representative of Carnival) remind me more of New Orleans than actual New Orleans-themed resorts like Harrah's or The Orleans. Secondly, the food is unparalleled. You've got the Carnival World Buffet, which is consistently voted year after year as the best buffet in Vegas. You've got the Village Seafood Buffet which (although slightly pricier) is outstanding. I mean, all-you-can-eat lobster tails and oysters on the half shell!! You don't get much better than that. (Although my only qualm is that the Seafood Buffet restaurant underwent a remodel and was redesigned to look slightly futuristic, and now it stylistically sticks out like a sore thumb in Masquerade Village, a perfect example of what I wrote earlier about the inconsistencies of Las Vegas theming.) Also the sushi at Hamada's is the best sushi that I have EVER eaten....and I lived in Japan! Design-wise the hotel is shaped like a giant flask, the gaming is incredible, and every room is a suite. Oh, and it is also literally around the corner from Brandon Baker's apartment....AND it is across the street from PING PANG PONG!

So that does it. For all of you travel junkies, the Dolphin, the Diplomat, and the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf are all part of the Starwood Preferred Guest Program. Paris and the Rio are part of Harrah's Total Rewards and the Wyndham is part of the Wyndham Rewards Program. Did YOUR favourite make the list? Any I left out? Let me know in the comments section. Every year at Thanksgiving Brandon Baker usually has a big gay porn Thanksgiving for all of the "porn displaced" in the Los Angeles area. Likewise, Howard at Fabscout does the same exact thing in Fort Lauderdale. Well the West Coast Thanksgiving probably will not happen this year as Brandon has moved to Las Vegas permanently and Rusty will be away at school. The Fort Lauderdale event will still happen, and Howard will have the Hungarian Visconti Triplets as the extra special guest stars. If you are in SoFlo, then you should see the Viscontis at the world-famous Boardwalk Bar.

Starting next month, I am going to be splitting my time equally between three cities (more on that later) but unfortunately Fort Lauderdale is not one of those cities, so I have no idea what I am doing for Thanksgiving yet. Luckily for me, I still have 5 months to figure it out. *wink*
